WHO are we looking for?

CAPTRUST is seeking a Tax Associate to assist in managing our client’s day-to-day accounting and investment accounts. Excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good client relations and the ability to communicate clearly.  The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. Most work is geared towards investment and tax compliance.   Preparation of estate and gift tax returns for our Family office clients is an additional responsibility in this role.  The position is responsible for adding to the team's efforts in all client activities including tax planning, compliance, estate and gift tax return preparation and executing all tax projects effectively.

• Ensure accurate book balancing and maintenance
• Efficiently download bank deposits and provide regular financial reports to management and clients
• Accurately record client petty cash and credit card expenses and proactively request supporting documents
• Create comprehensive monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets for internal use
• Thoroughly prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state sales tax and payroll reports
• Efficiently generate 1099’s and W-2’s for clients
• Prepare SEC Audit Reports
• Compile Workman’s Comp Audit Reports
• Provide exceptional client support via remote access
• Prepare Farm & Ranch Reports
• Create Real Estate Investment Reports
• Prepare HOA Reports
• Create Trust and Estate Reports
• Meets and corresponds with clients or potential clients regularly
• Meets and corresponds with other advisors or professionals including attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals to collaborate on servicing shared clients
• Supports with annual tax returns preparation and reviews for individuals, trust, and business entities using tax software; this may include reviewing prepared returns or preparing returns for review
• Research and analyze tax related compliance and planning questions utilizing available research tools
• Add value to internal meetings by actively engaging in and being prepared for rigorous discussions centered around tax process, tax preparation issues and other matters that impact the effectiveness and efficiency of the tax team
• Effectively communicating with colleagues and superiors on project status, open items, and assistance needed
• Based on business need, ability to travel for occasional on-site meetings and collaboration
• Technology focused with opportunities to assist in developing and improving tax processes

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, accounting career path preferred
• 1 to 3 years of accounting, tax, and/or bookkeeping experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

• Advanced degree in Tax from an accredited university (preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and QuickBooks
• Ability to demonstrate highest personal ethics, integrity, and confidentiality
• Self-starter who can get started on projects and coach direct reports
• Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and client service focus
