WHO are we looking for?

CAPTRUST is seeking a Corporate Counsel with commercial contracting experience to join our internal legal team. As counsel, you will provide practical legal advice, primarily to the institutional advisory practice, while mitigating legal risks for the company. The role will include responsibility to coordinate matters with external counsel and internal stakeholders. Our ideal candidate is comfortable working with all levels of management to gain an in-depth understanding of our strategy and services. The candidate will maintain the highest professional and ethical standards, have excellent time management, organization, and decision-making abilities, be able to prioritize projects and deadlines, be collaborative, and accountable while performing in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating client advisory agreements
• Developing standard documents and forms related to client contracting and onboarding, compliance, and other matters on an as-needed basis
• Assisting institutional business with legal requests, RFPs, and miscellaneous requests
• Leading or participating in firm initiatives relating to client contracting or other corporate legal matters
• Executing projects through completion
• Identifying potential legal issues and coordinating with appropriate stakeholders and outside counsel as appropriate
• Advising the business with respect to ERISA and other applicable guidance on best practices
• Communicating clearly, accurately, and authoritatively across various levels
• Providing additional legal support and counsel to business groups across the firm

Minimum Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate from accredited law school
• Licensed to practice and in good standing in applicable jurisdiction
• 5+ years of law firm or in house experience

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

• Knowledge of investment advisory industry; particularly institutional practices
• Knowledge of ERISA and applicable DOL rules
