Overview

WHO are we looking for?

 

CAPTRUST is seeking an Institutional Portfolio Management Specialist who will work closely with financial advisors, client services, centralized trading, investment colleagues, and third parties to manage OCIO (Outsourced Chief Investment Officer) portfolios for pension plans and other institutional clients. In this leadership position, the individual will manage OCIO defined benefit plans throughout the investor life cycle. This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate complex situations to deliver superior results while actively leveraging investment managers, custodians, and internal subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage OCIO defined benefit plan investment portfolios, including:
    • Allocating assets appropriately
    • Ensuring compliance with Investment Policy Statements, and
    • Supervising cash levels
  • Drive world class investment outcomes for plan sponsors
  • Serve as the subject matter expert evaluating complex situations and apply a high degree of judgement on behalf of plan sponsors by analyzing, initiating and/or approving portfolio transactions
  • Collaborate with trading department to ensure timely execution of portfolio trades
  • Support the development of plan sponsor strategy with Financial Advisors through in-depth understanding of CAPTRUST’s OCIO strategies and capital markets outlook
  • Communicate proactive updates to Financial Advisors and investors
  • Execute investment strategy by collaborating with custodians, investment managers and other external vendors
  • Identify process issues/challenges and drive organizational change through the development of creative and scalable solutions
  • Lead high-impact project initiatives for the team
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to less experienced, supporting team members

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a four-year college degree from an accredited institution: Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Mathematics preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-8 years relevant industry experience
  • Compulsory attention to detail to execute complex financial transactions
  • In depth knowledge and passion for capital markets
  • Experience in portfolio management or analysis
  • Strong understanding of investment vehicles
  • Willingness to communicate with others, and make decisions reflecting priorities of diverse stakeholders
  • Effective project management skills

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience working with qualified pension plans
  • Experience working in either a trading or custodial operational/back-office role
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Advent Suite or Power BI experience a plus
  • Possession or pursuit of CFA charter or other industry credentials, optional
