WHO are we looking for?

CAPTRUST is seeking an Institutional Trader to join our dynamic cross-functional Trading group in Raleigh, NC. This junior-level role will be an integral member of our Institutional Trading team responsible for implementing portfolios to their Investment Policy Statement and coordinating trades across CAPTRUST’s pension plan, endowment, and foundation clients. The Trader I will primarily support Institutional Trading, while, over time, cross training and collaborating with other business lines within Trading.

• Manage the Institutional Trade queue by generating trade recommendations to facilitate internal stakeholder requests, create trade tickets and letters of direction, verify asset targets versus Investment Policy, enter trades into an OMS, partner directly with custodians and managers to implement trades for discretionary accounts, plan and assist in implementing trades and money movement for non-discretionary accounts ensuring that varied and complex fund, manager, and custodian settlement dates, notification requirements, and cutoff times are followed
• Support a trading inbox and address inquiries in a timely manner; serve as a resource to internal and external partners; collaborate and communicate regularly with internal OCIO, Consulting, Client Service, Advisor, Portfolio Accounting, and Compliance teams and external custodians, asset managers, and plan sponsors
• Interpret and analyze transactions to perform daily reconciliation of trades and money movement with custodians and asset managers in accordance with organizational procedures. Mitigate risk by identifying issues in a timely manner and working with partners to correct issues as they arise
• Ensure fair and efficient execution of Institutional trades at CAPTRUST custodians through the CAPTRUST trading platforms
• Assist or run point on important projects and ad-hoc requests from both internal and external partners as needed
• Assist in updating and maintaining information systems

• Completion of a four-year college degree
• 3+ years’ experience working with a Trading OMS or Rebalancer system
• Intermediate Excel (xlookup, vlookup, hlookup, pivot tables, some macro work)
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure on multiple tasks concurrently, meeting tight deadlines, balancing frequent interruptions, and changing priorities
• Work independently with limited direction as well as collaboratively in a team environment
• Handle high stakes situations and provide a high level of service in a calm, professional, and efficient manner

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

• A student of the markets who understands operational aspects of asset/money movement, and trading attributes of different investment types
• Intermediate knowledge of investment concepts, practices, and procedures
• Intermediate Power BI
• A growth mindset and desire to become a key contributor to a high performing team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
