Overview

WHO are we looking for?

 

CAPTRUST is seeking a National Senior Tax Associate who will work with team members to provide high-net-worth families, individuals, and their related entities with tax compliance, tax consulting, and wealth management services. The position is responsible for supporting the team's efforts in all client activities including tax planning, compliance, and executing all tax projects effectively. This position will be part of the National Tax Services Group and will work closely with the National Tax Director and Managers to service wealth clients of the firm, nationally. Successful candidates in this role may be considered for promotion to tax manager over time. Primary responsibilities include the following, among others:

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reviews workpapers and annual tax returns for individuals, trusts, foundations and business entities using tax preparation software
  • Meets and corresponds with clients and separate advisors including attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals to collaborate on servicing shared clients
  • Research and analyze tax related compliance and planning questions utilizing available research tools and professional experience
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to tax associates, interns, and other employees
  • Participate and add value to virtual internal meetings by actively engaging in and being prepared for discussions related to tax technical topics, tax preparation process, tax preparation and other matters that impact the effectiveness and efficiency of the tax team
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and superiors on project status, open items, and assistance needed
  • Technology focused and ability to adapt when new technologies are implemented
  • Based on business need, ability to travel for occasional on-site meetings, trainings and collaboration

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • CPA certified or actively working towards CPA certification
  • 3 or more years current public accounting experience preparing and reviewing all types of returns

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Tax from an accredited university (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax laws
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Self-starter who can proactively navigate working on multiple projects in a remote environment
  • Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and client service focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate highest personal ethics, integrity, and confidentiality
